Below is an email interview with Inner Light Spectrum. All interviews are published unedited.
- You have just released an album ‘The Path to Reality’ how has that been going and are you pleased with the results?
Writing this record was a complete joy, it might sound funny to people when I say that it just came to me, but what I mean is I really just let myself go, let my inspiration & creativity fly free. Some songs wrote themselves, other needed a little more TLC. But throughout the whole process my motto was no rules. It just had to be cool.
This being the 1st album done completely by me, it’s a real challenge getting it out there. The music I make isn’t mainstream by any means. Today artists have all these excellent tools at our disposal, the Internet has enabled us to reach huge audiences. The challenge lies in getting peoples attention, as everyone knows we have information overload. Computers were supposed to save us time, and now we find that because we can do so much more so easily, anywhere, that we actually have less of it. But in general reaction to the songs has been extremely positive.
- How important has the Microsoft download been to you?
The Microsoft download has been really cool. I like the way they made it nice and simple for people to download the songs. I wanted to get a song out there, get people to know about Inner Light Spectrum. So far there has been over 1400 downloads of Sonia’s Songs (Moonbeams). Which has surpassed the initial goal I set out for this project. I think it will help me in the long run.
- What is the best way to describe your tracks?
As I was saying earlier about technology and time. I think people today really need a sort of chill pill, and I believe my music provides exactly that. It’s introspective, meditative, and helps diminish the stress we encounter in our daily lives. All that with no side effects!
- You have been producing tracks for over 10 years, what has been the highlight for you?
Definitely working with such great and inspiring artists over the years. Absorbing and learning as much from them as I can. Having songs placed on numerous compilations like Café del Mar under different pseudonyms like One Mind’s Eye, and Lemonade Speedster. Composing station Id’s for local radio here & a theme song for a TV show. As well as The Path To Reality Album.
- Now your latest project has been released, what comes next?
Getting the album out there to people, building a following. I have some artists that are interested in remixing some tracks, and I’m planing to do some remixes myself as well. Maybe even doing some live shows. I’m sure that would prove to be an interesting experience. I’d love to collaborate with other artists regardless of the genre. I’d love to write music for films, I’ve scored for theater and that was real fun and a great learning experience. Write for video games.
