Muse – Live Teignmouth

Going to a Muse gig is predictable, you know what the performance is going to be like… on the 4th of September, at Muse’s Seaside Rendezvous in Teignmouth, nothing was a surprise. The old favorites were crowd pleasers and the new stuff from ‘The Resistance’ were, interesting, in a pretentious, over complicated, unoriginal way – I’m sure they will get better on the ear after a few more listens (if I could be bothered). The live versions, however, sound better than the ‘Queenesque’ preview snippets I have heard on the web.

Muse are still one of my favorite live bands and trekking to Teignmouth was a fantastic surreal experience – this sedate Devon seaside, port side town came alive, I hope it recovers. (Teignmouth is a historic port on the mouth of the Teign estuary, having all the attractions of a seaside town, including a Victorian pier and is the birthplace of Muse.)

I’m really glad we went!

About peter

'Death by Sushi' Fish can kill me. When I was very small (maybe 3 or 4 years old) my grandfather, who lost the sight of one eye from a bullet fired by a German sniper (fortunately not a very good one) during the Battle of the Somme in World War 1, wiped my face with the corner of his apron, an apron he had used to wipe his filleting knife on. He was a grocery shopkeeper who specialized in wet fish.
