I recorded ‘Like A Sickle Runs Through Corn’ on a 4 track Tascam 144 cassette recorder – I had bought this in Birmingham – the store fleeced me with excessive repayments – they were expensive bits of kit and a piece of cutting edge technology – in comparison with today’s digital audio world they were positively primitive. In 2007 Cherry Red released a retrospective of The Dancing Did which included some live tracks which I  recorded by chance at Cheltenham College, on one of our Teac 144’s. I was there to record ‘Blurt’ and had some tape over so this unique moment was recorded.
