S.V. – Interview

Below is an email interview with S.V. All interviews are published unedited. Read a review here.

First I would like to state that our group consists of 2 people. Salkin & Victory.I, Victory am currently writing. I will be answering for Salkin as well to the questions that involve him!

  • How did you get into rap – it seems a little odd (to me) that someone from Denmark is into this genre?
I, Victory got into rap when I was 12. Going through the city with my mother, I ended up spotting an Eminem CD (The Eminem Show) and buying it! English was/is my main language so whatever contained English would interest me! Now, vaguely I remember seeing Without Me on Mtv as well which might have been the spark of interest in the CD.

Nevertheless, in the album, followed an instrumental version of, “Sing For The Moment” by Eminem. It was a 5 minute version and believe it or not, I, Victory at 12 years old wrote my first song filling a 5 minute track which was dubbed: “My Introduction”.

That’s how I introduced myself to Rap.

The answer to the Odd bit: Yes Peter, it is odd! Rap wasn’t shown to me, was never, “introduced”to me by anyone. Let me put it like this, “When someone truly finds what they want, doubt ceases to exist”.

  • How long have you been producing tracks?
Alright, according to S.V., this is a question for Salkin as he is the Main Producer in the group and I am the Co-Prod mostly to when it comes to Vocals and pure feedback. Even worse, he is at the OZORA festival at the moment and can probablynot be reached! I can say though that he has been doing it for quite some time! I’m thinking more than 3-4 years.

No matter what, he’s been gaining experience fast.

  • Tell us more about your guest vocalists?
Until now, our guest vocalists are: Soho & Sofie. Two Amazing artists! It’s also so sad to see how great artists sometimes get undermined and do not get the admiration they deserve.

Soho is on City Lights, speaks fluently english so she wrote her own lyrics. Might I say, amazing lyrics indeed! She really did fill the track. Also, her voice has a character unlike any other. It has a sort of pleasing sound to it which could please any ear!

Sofie is on Hallucinations which is a track when S.V. got more acquainted with each other. She is originally Danish and speaks Danish with some English so here I, Victory wrote the lyrics for her!
Either way, she is amazingly fast and dedicated in her art as a singer and will keep singing until the vocals fit nicely on the track! It was a delight working with her and I know, from Salkin’s side, that it was very easy and relaxing to have her on the recordings!

I would love to take the opportunity to thank both of them for wanting to be on our songs and making it easy for us concerning money and shares. They didn’t even want anything! But I would feel like shit if I wasn’t to give at least 10 percent to each for their beautiful voices!

  • Do you think your music is getting stronger?
I definitely think so! Our music can only grow stronger as we both have a lot to learn and we can Only improve!

On my side, I can learn FAR more about voice technique & articulation. I believe after Escaping Propaganda (Our 4th song) I will be having a greater impact on listeners. On Salkin’s side, I believe that he is able to improve his skills by everyday that passes. He’s always on his Logic with his Super Mac Pro computer using 5 or more copies of Omnisphere at once!

Together we can evolve our style to the way we both think and act. City Lights was quite pop in it’s arrangement etc. Slowly over time we start to gather our intertwined sound which will eventually define S.V..

  • Do you have anything exciting happening in the near future?
OH YEAH! Exciting and beautiful artistic things will happen! Salkin is cooking up beats quickly and ALL we miss is a place to be so that we can keep recording those tracks from alternate universes!

The only reason there is a huge hold-up in releasing tracks is because of the travel distance between us. Transport in Denmark is expensive..

We hope soon to get a room with another friend of mine and build a mini studio there with a vocal booth where Salkin can be so that we can keep creating!

GOOD NEWS:

We will very soon be releasing a Demo with the famous Manu from
ManuComics who created the Animation figures of S.V.!

It will be available free as Torrent and download so that we can spread it out!

If you are reading this at a later date and wondering whether it’s out yet or not then go to www.salkinvictory.tk and find out!

About peter

'Death by Sushi' Fish can kill me. When I was very small (maybe 3 or 4 years old) my grandfather, who lost the sight of one eye from a bullet fired by a German sniper (fortunately not a very good one) during the Battle of the Somme in World War 1, wiped my face with the corner of his apron, an apron he had used to wipe his filleting knife on. He was a grocery shopkeeper who specialized in wet fish.
