The Daughters of Bristol – Review

I can’t understand why I haven’t mentioned this band earlier? My Goth sensibilities are always satisfied when I listen to these chaps.
It would be crass to compare them with other bands, simply because – I think they have managed to shake things up and make something very special, but still retain that dark cloak of midnight that swathed the music scene way back in the late 1970’s. This is not retrospective hero worshiping imitation it is definitely forward thinking and exciting.
I love ‘In The Midst Of Your Temple’ which strangely (in a good, weird way)  feels like a good old fashioned angst pleading love song – superb backing vocals. ‘Woman At The Side’ (see video) is another one to listen to.
I reccomend you have a look at the album ‘Jones Hall’, it has been around for a bit but still worth giving the time to listen to.

About peter

'Death by Sushi' Fish can kill me. When I was very small (maybe 3 or 4 years old) my grandfather, who lost the sight of one eye from a bullet fired by a German sniper (fortunately not a very good one) during the Battle of the Somme in World War 1, wiped my face with the corner of his apron, an apron he had used to wipe his filleting knife on. He was a grocery shopkeeper who specialized in wet fish.
