There is no such thing as ART

The pointlessness of producing art for decoration and pleasure is a perverted masturbation fantasy and process for the deluded mind. Art and its prettiness have no place in any intellectual society – it has no place in a capitalist society – it has no place

The only true pursuit for the creative process is the creation of the commodity. There are no such things as art schools, public art and art galleries, they are simply empty vessels containing and perpetuating the (economic) elitist stranglehold on the common man’s freedom to think for himself.

The powerful use art to bludgeon the weak into submission by edifying their wealth with totems and monuments to their self glory.

Any person who calls themselves an artist should be ashamed of themselves – because they are a liar.

(Commodity) art is created for and by the wealthy.

Matilda – Cambridge Theatre (London)

Enjoyed watching this musical – loved the alphabet stage set. Deserves all the award nominations.

Based on a book published in 1988 by children’s author Roald Dahl, this stage version of Matilda by Dennis Kelly and award-winning comedian and musician Tim Minchin is directed by Matthew Warchus. The set was designed by Rob Howell and choreography is by Peter Darling.

“which will show me I can work from the landscape. This is something that I have felt is too over powering, too difficult for me to undertake but even after today I’m picking up little tricks. Tricks are I’m sure what landscape painting is all about.” Read more…

I have been trying to draw all my life – the same problems keep reappearing.

Drawing from life is perhaps something every artist must do, it is not easy and very frustrating requiring lots of concentration –  but you have to have a go. I was 19 when I did the drawing above on St. Martins in the Scilly Isles. Going back to the basic skills of drawing is an interesting excursion – a journey I’m not sure I will ever complete.

3 facts from the artist (?)

  1. Methodology doesn’t describe specific methods; nevertheless it does specify several processes that need to be followed. These processes constitute a generic framework. They may be broken down in sub-processes, they may be combined, or their sequence may change. However any … Continue reading ?

  2. A R T I S T’ S * N O T E S

    Ref. (actually it is bullshit)

Robert Rauschenberg was a massive influence on my painting, printing and music. Images (and sounds) that are arbitrarily spliced together in an apparent random manner will, when juxtaposed against each other, create a narrative. This meshing together of unrelated imagery may appear to be arbitrary but the intellectual decision making that goes with the process is absolutely phenomenal. It is therefore unrealistic to expect the uneducated masses to view these images as ‘real art’. The birth of Photoshop has enabled everybody to create ‘non-intellectual’ versions of Rauchenberg (and Warhol) – only the educated truly understand.
