Bat for Lashes

There is something very English about Bat for Lashes, their tracks remind me of drinking tea on a well manicured lawn with tidy little rose beds enclosed in rope twist, terracotta edgings. Peaceful, tranquil and old fashioned – but a huge wasp, the size of a pelican disrupts the calm, diving, stinger poised, taking aim – a surreal juxtaposition. What more could you ask for?

You go to gigs and every now and then you are treated to something that is magical and memorable. We went to see them play live at Bristol University earlier this year – it was one of those events that will stay in my memory bank for a long time, perhaps forever. Go and see them live, it will be a great experience.

About peter

'Death by Sushi' Fish can kill me. When I was very small (maybe 3 or 4 years old) my grandfather, who lost the sight of one eye from a bullet fired by a German sniper (fortunately not a very good one) during the Battle of the Somme in World War 1, wiped my face with the corner of his apron, an apron he had used to wipe his filleting knife on. He was a grocery shopkeeper who specialized in wet fish.
